So I have heard some pastors preach and  a lot of people say that Methuselah the world's oldest man that ever lived was not really important, his life was not really useful just because the bible only recorded the years the poor man spent on earth and not his achievements and I am always like "what! you  kidding me or what? you mean a man who was wise and smart enough to spend a nine hundred and sixty nine(969!) years on earth was not useful! you must be kidding!"

Let me analyze it clearer for you..going by 969 years, if Methuselah had died this year(2018), he would have been born in 1049 AD... gawd, he would have seen all the revolutions! experienced most of the things that is being taught in our history class,the battle of Hastings! bubonic plauge!American civil war!.many vampires even though they are myths don't even get to live that long, when he was 200 years old, I can bet a dollar that he was still as strong as a 30 year old man, ..we have a lot to learn from the lifestyle and years of Methuselah on earth..this post is not written  to add to the bible ,or deduct from it (no sir!)  but just speculations into Methuselah's lifestyle that could have made him live that long and what can we learn from them..check them out..

He lived a healthy lifestyle: although Methuselah was not a king, we can conclude that he didn't eat the best ,but he ate healthy foods that did well to his body and his immune system, he must have done some couple of exercises too(though funny, but yes) to keep fit and live that long..he wouldn't have smoked(if it was available then) and he wouldn't have been a lover of alcohol.so if you want a good shot at Methuselah's years on earth, you d better lived a healthy lifestyle..

He minded his business: Trust me, you can't live that long like if you don't mind your business, Methuselah must have been a gentle,easygoing man who paddled his own canoe, and went about minding his own business.. you want to be 969? mind your business!

He was careful: Methuselah must have been very careful  in his decisions , to have lived that long, I an sure huldn't have been the man who arrived at hasty decisions.. he would have thought then through before going for one(he had a lotta time on his hands)..Don't make hasty decisions ..it reduces lifespan

He was a likeable person: Methuselah must have been a likeable person with nice characters to have lived that long, so people that lived then were not freaked out by his age, they live and let him live,if he had been a bad person with a lot of hate going for him, he wouldn't have lived that long..improve on your characters  ..it might take you places or let me say ages

He was wise: He must have been a wise  and experienced man who made smart decisions to have lived that long..  going by what the bible say,get wisdom and in all thy getting, get understanding..

so you might now stop saying that "apart from his age,Methuselah was not important or useful to the events that happened in his lifetime and was recorded in the bible" because his age enough had put upon him a veil of importance.. he broke a worldly record that would never be broken  again in this world or maybe the world to come..next time before you say anything about Methuselah, just remember 969 years!

School gave me a solace to my depressive state of mind, I met more people, made more friends and attended more parties, but I still fet a yearning desire in my heart for some kinda companion, of the opposite gender, though I am handsome in my own right, the few girls I professed love to, always came up with the 'I am already in a relationship" stance, and I began to wonder if all girls are not already engaged from birth.. Not that I don't have many female friends though or some crushers secretly admiring me, but these girls do not just fit the specifications of the dream girlfriend I was looking for..and the ones who fit perfectly? They are always in one relationship or the other....

I was in this love cycle, until I met Princess, and my life took an interesting turnaround..

it was a new session, and a season of parties too as different organizations were setting up different parties and programmes for the freshmen to initiate them into the system of the school, as a fan of parties, I had my hands full of them and I attended the ones I could in my free time, but of all the parties in school, the Dramatic Arts Freshers party is always the best, most interesting and entertaining event,the party boasts of the highest number of the creme de la creme, and celebrities of the school, it was a general knowledge that if you are a singer in school and you haven't performed here, then you are not relevant. The organizers of this show are aware of this and every year, they up the price of the gate fee, last year it was a thousand naira, this year, it was increased by 100%. people complained but the organizers didn't budge because they know that at the end of the day, the hall will still get full and it did.

In our fiine t-shirts, trousers and sneakers to match, and covered in the scent and aura of our perfume, I and my roommates Shola and Kay went to the party and I promised myself that I will enjoy the night to the fullest cos the party fee made a very significant reduction in my little pocket money.

Our plan was definite, we go to the party, collect food two times, drink, dance and  most importantly collect 3 different girls numbers each, we agreed amongst ourselves that if we didnt get the numbers, the night would have been a waste.

The party started successfully with the usual red carpet glamour, and the renditions of upcoming artistes, games and all those pretty nice stuffs that happens at parties, it was during the rap battle, while we were sitting on white plastic chairs and nursing our drinks that Kay pointed at the far end of the hall.
"guys, look at that chick over there! Damn! The girl is hot!"
 "and she looks rich too! She is gonna be a good catch" said Shola who is always on the lookout for gold girls to dig.
I turned my head and followed the direction of their eyes and spotted the girl that was being hyped, the girl was tall of about 5.8 inches, her hair was adorned with multi colored attachments, on her hands were golden bracelets, she wore a crop top on which GUCCI was plainly written in block lines and a blue designer jeans, which I guess my 2 years pocket money will never purchase.. She would have been a beautiful lady if not for the "know it all" look on her face and the chewing gum she was chewing unabashedly. I don't like her and I made my opinion known to my friends.
"the girl looks like a spoilt kid, or even a prostitute, you will be involving yourself in a whole lot of trouble if you try to get her" I said.
"oh, shut up, how do you know that? Keep judging girls, that is why you don't have a girlfriend... " Kay said but I was not listening to him anymore because in the entrance of the hall where my eyes were glued was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen..

It looks as if life itself was paused and the girl and I were the only living things in the hall, now, this girl may not win the miss world pageant but she had a blue forget me not eyes and the figure in the blue gown she was wearing set my blood racing, her face was innocently beautiful, not that she was putting on any expensive thing, but no matter what she wore, she will still outshine her peers, her legs would make Nicki Minaj jealous and the way she gracefully walked into the hall will make Angelina Jolie green with envy. I imagined myself holding her tight and looking into her eyes and this imagination led me into a hot sweat.

I was put of my reverie by Shola
"Julius! Julius! Man, what the heck Is wrong with you? What were you thinking? "
"sorry guys I am coming back!" I said and hurriedly made my way to the girl's chair before any other overzealous guy beat me to it.

As I approached her chair, I put on my best smile and I hoped to God in heaven that I was looking my best..
"Hello, I dare say, you are the most beautiful girl in this hall"
"oh thank you " she said and smiled, her voice melodious, her smile attractive!
"make me the happiest guy in this hall, tell me your name" I smiled and sat down beside her.
"Princess, and you are?"
"Julius shitta, but let's forget about the surname " I said and she laughed.. Nice sound I wish to hear over and over again.
"so I am a law student, part 2"
"nice, dramatic arts, freshman" she said
"wow, that is nice but why did you come late to this party?"
"I actually don't feel like coming, but I changed my mind at the twelfth hour "she said smiling
"oh it is nice you are here, cos you are making my night" I said and added a wink to go with it.
"I can as well say that for you too" she said and that literally knocked me off my feet, I felt I was on top of the world.. Cloud 9 or whatever you call it.
Just then the Masters of ceremony announced Dance! Dance! Dance! And the Disc Jockey played

Hey beautiful.. Tell me what you need.....

"milady please give me this dance" I stood up, and offered my hand.
"sure " she smiled and took my hand...

And that is how our love life started..

Over the years we have shared a lot of interesting events and adventures together, I became a happier jovial guy and my friends noticed the changes, I stopped following them on their "fishing missions" at night, and my approach to life became more gentle, easy and hopeful.
Nevertheless princess did not meet all the requirements of the specifications I had drafted but who cares? When I read the details of the specifications, I believe I must have been high to have set them in the first place.
"only angels or robots could meet these ones" I remembered my friend commenting once when he saw them "better throw these specs outta your mind, it is for kids, that is not how real life works" he had added.. And somehow he had been right.
But that had been 3 years ago, I am presently in my 500 level and princess is in her final year too, both ready and preparing to get out of school and weather
the storm of life..

One sunny afternoon, Shola came into the room bursting "guys! I swear if you see the car I saw parked at our hostel car park! I swear you will bow"
"wow, what is the name of the car!" Kay asked excitedly
"guy, it is the latest Mercedes Benz A class"
They both shouted and swooned, and I wondered which kind of stuff will make two grown men start behaving as Kids like this...
"what is so special about the car? " I asked
" damn! See you, what do you know? Apart from books and princess, you need to get a life bro! " Kay, who just like throwing shades at me said with a shake of his head.
I was thinking of a good clapback when the voice of the Porter came over the P.A as clear as day
"Julius Shitta you are wanted here, Julius Shitta I repeat, your attention is needed"

As I jumped into my clothes and rushed over to the porter's side, I wondered who my visitor is, certainly not my parents, they would have informed me beforehand, or is it uncle Tunde? Or Aunty Beatrice.. I wondered as I made my way to the Porter's Lodge.

You would have noticed that crazy trend now on Facebook for some years, in which some  users intentionally register their names incorrectly or change, edit, and customize their Facebook names or IDs to look cool, posh or trendy.. whereby you would see a guy who was named Akinola Davis from birth and has this name on all his professional certifications and IDs, would be Harkinola Darviss on Facebook, and Sandra Smith would likely be Cuteberry Smith,  although it seems harmless and just fun catching on the social media, but allow me to be a spoilsport this once (sorry please!) by saying that on the real sense of it..customizing your name on Facebook actually has its own disadvantages which you might find costly at the end of the day.. Let's get into it..

It could lose you a job : Do you know that customizing your name on Facebook could lose you a sweet deal or a job?

There have been cases of many job applicants whose applications letters have been reportedly thrown into the trash can because the Hiring Firms crosschecked the applicants contacts and their Social media profiles and because of the inconsistency, they were rejected. Nowadays Firms run  background check on their prospective employees just to get little or no information about them, and  your Facebook account is one of those things they use to judge your character, know things about you, your level of seriousness etc ,and it all starts from your Facebook ID.
Although not all Recruiting agencies or companies do this, but you don't want to take that chance of not getting your dream job, because of just a harmless Facebook customized name.. I will enjoin you to treat your Facebook Profile professionally like your LinkedIn profile.


The Idea behind Facebook itself : Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook to be an avenue where people could connect with each other and most especially  reunite people that have lost contacts. there are many of your colleagues and friends whom might have lost your contact details and would like to reach you, their main destination would be Facebook, where they d hoped to search your real name and hook up with you, now if you had spelt your name wrongly or changed your Facebook name, they might not be able to get to your account,  then the  purpose of having an account on Facebook would have been defeated..

A guy once shared a testimony on how his old time friend was able to link him for a job in his company. his story goes thus " my friend, who knew that I could do a certain task with ease then in the school days, remembered my name when the opportunity came up, But we have lost contacts then, he was able to get me tracked via my facebook. if I had used funny name like "horpheyemi, Holuwhathobi, Wizdaddy etc. what will have become of me" 

For your friends, your loved ones, your colleagues to  find you on Facebook with ease, Your Real Name is key.

It is not professional : Customizing your Facebook Name is not professional as it makes you look like (let's be frank)  an unserious fellow who still has a lot to learn, it is not allowed and advisable in the corporate world and you could look bad to your prospective clients or partners If they checked your facebook profile,and your names are spelled wrongly.

It makes your Facebook Account looks phoney : Having a customized or fake Name on your facebook profile makes your  account appears fake and not trustworthy since cyber fraudsters who prowl social media  especially Facebook creates fake  accounts with a fake  name to swindle and dupe the unsuspecting public.Having or operating  a Fake Social media Profile is considered Illegal in many parts of the world and may carry big punishments

You may just get arrested for it : This is quite funny but it happens.  In stricter societies and under stringent measures, you may get arrested or detained if the name on your identification card does not correlate with the one on your social media handles particularly facebook, especially in countries where there are rampant cases of cyber Fraud, for instance,  in Nigeria,   you could be detained by SARS (a department of the Nigerian Police Force) if the name on your ID card  does not correlate with the one on your social media profiles thereby suggesting cyber fraud..

So there you have it pals, is customizing your Facebook name worth it after all?

I know what you are thinking, this guy must be crazy, eat lizards? Eat those creeping smelly little bastards..  Over my dead body! but continue reading, you stand to gain a lot from this interesting post..

So you are ready to start eating lizards right? Lizards require a special way to catch and cook, lizards can be caught by using trap or shot, you can also get them in some markets, just make sure it was properly prepared and doesn’t contain poisonous bacteria.
After you  get the lizard meat you should know how to process and cook it. Follow these tips before you eating lizard :
Before you cook lizard you should cut the head and the gut of lizard. Don’t forget to cut the anus as well
Divide the lizard body and separate the legs and tail by cutting them
Remember don’t use the same cutting board which you use to cut lizard with other kind of food such as vegetable. This may cause cross contamination
Boil lizard meat for 20 minutes until the skin get loose and it sterile from any kind of bacteria
Remove the skin from lizard body and then you can cook it just as you wish. You can fry or stir it, its up to you.

a man holding many canes Opa festival does not involve rituals or making of sacrifices unto any idol, this is why throngs participate in the ceremony. It is all about singing and dancing while some physically fit men and women voluntarily flog each other on their back; the young and the old engage in severe flogging of each other to mark the clearing of the bush for cultivation. Strong young men see it as an exercise while many people see it as a torturous festival.

Men with canes Now when we are talking about caning,we don't mean playacting, this is a festival where you are seriously caned with fat or thin steady canes to test your courage and endurance,to see if you are really fit to be called a Son and daughter of the land.

The king and cheifs are not left out of this festival , they are free to beat any subjects but they don't get beaten...seriously,  you want to beat a king?...

           

In an interview with the king when he was asked why in this jet age do they still carry out this primitive activities, he said " It is a  festival we got from our forefathers which is compulsory for Osi indegenes both home and abroad because it  answers prayers,makes pregnant women gives birth easily, it heals and also a great protective sheild against all types of physical and spiritual diseases, that is why we love doing it"
